Photos 40 years in the making

A long time ago in a city far, far away I worked a couple of blocks from this cathedral, passed it each day on the way to work and the way home, walked to the Taco Time across the street, knew it as a reference point you could spot from miles away, and never once went inside. And never once turned my camera towards it. Not until did I step into a few major churches in another place far, far away—Italy and in particular Florence and Venice—did I realize what I had been overlooking. For this structure to exist in my little hometown (Spokane, WA) was something I really never gave much thought to. It might not be as grand as the Duomo in Florence, or St. Peter’s in Rome but you have to admit this is a beautiful example of what can be made from stone, hard work and lots of sweat and toil. I will head back this way again next year and capture this cathedral at a different time of day or night.
