Explore Turkey - Priene - an Ancient Greek city

This Ancient Greek city is located near the western coast of modern day Turkey a few miles from the sea. When it was founded in about 1000 BCE it was on the coast. Since that time the sea has moved about 15k. This site is seldom visited—so if you enjoy wandering an ancient site and not fight the crowds then this site is for you. You can step in a small amphitheater, wander through the fallen column drums, and explore the edges which are filled with the crumbling walls of homes. South of Selçuk and very worth a visit. The tiny town just down hill from the site has over time changed a great deal at one time with a few restaurants and a wonderful stone store—pretty much all gone now.
