This painting is from the series Visual Diary – a series of paintings based on travel in Greece and specific moments, feelings, and experiences. This is an image based on the boat builders on Samos. They construct the bones of the boat high up in the mountains. Once that is complete they drag it down the hill to the sea to complete the construction. It is quite a sight to come up a series of boat hulls high up in a tiny village on Samos. Painted bright orange before they are covered.
The painting starts with a base of acrylic paint which is then painted over with oils.
The size of the work is 30 x 60 inches. Painted on canvas.
